Violence and peace
Predicted and unbelievable
Authority and submission
Certainty and faith
Glory and humiliation
As we walk toward Good Friday and the world shattering, gut wrenching event where the Son of God gives his life – willingly, lovingly, humbly and majestically – our own lives are brought into sharp perspective as we watch Him walk towards his calling, purpose and destiny. We stand with James and John (Mark 10: 32-45) as we try to get what we want and are promised that we will – it just may look very, very different.
With all the paradox that the Easter Passion brings how can we learn how to live authentic, God following, fully human lives as Jesus did?
Let’s explore what this challenging part of the story has to teach us about James’ and John’s transformations and how we can stretch our arms out to the right and to the left as well as challenge our own perspective of reality on Sunday.
