Adrian has been contacted by Inspector Sara Long from the West Midlands Police Service who is leading on a local project called ‘Voices of Dudley… Hate Hurts’ to ask if we, as a Church Family, would be prepared to be involved in this project. She explained, ‘the idea is for members of the public to record a voice note of up to 2 minutes about an incident where they have been a victim so hate of some sort. Send it, with a covering message explaining the strand of diversity that they represent and roughly the date when it happened, to the below WhatsApp account. We would like to use some of the clips as voice over for an animation about hate in Dudley and then all of the clips will be used to create a piece of sound media – not sure what this will look like yet. We are interested in incidents that have occurred somewhere in Dudley please.’
They will use these recordings for two things (you won’t be identified);
- To promote hate reporting for National Hate Crime week in October.
- For training and as social media posts to promote the work of Hate and Cohesion Multi Agency Partnership (HCMAP)
The WhatsApp number to send the voice notes to is 07966 503370
• She is keen to hear the voices of people of a Christian Faith if they have been subject to Hate Crime. She thinks this may be under reported.
• She is also keen to hear from anyone else in churches and charities from any diversity group other than Christian too.
If you have been subject to a ‘Hate Crime’, would you consider recording your story on the above WhatsApp number?
Thank you
– Adrian Lowe
