Someone is quoted as saying ‘Music feeds us, it nourishes us, and it brings us great joy!’ – and if that is the case, then Faith Focus had a feast when they met in May! After enjoying a hearty lunch together, the 49 guests were treated to a smorgasbord of wonderful music from The Gentleman Songsters. From the close harmonies of Welsh hymns to the emotive Bring Him Home, and even a dash of Elvis, there was something to satisfy every musical taste. Even though we were told there were probably only half the number of the songsters with us on the afternoon, the blend of their voices and the enjoyment they obviously get from singing together was a delight – and all from memory, as they sing without words or sheet music!
Accompanied by our very own Peter Clay, we had opportunity to sing along with the choir as well as sitting back and being immersed in their music. It was a treat to be there!
Thank you Lord for the gift of music to lift our spirits and touch our hearts.
If you want to hear the Gentleman Songsters, they have a ‘Spring Into Summer’ concert at Halesowen Town Hall on Saturday 18th May. Find out more from their website.
Faith Focus next meet on Thursday 6th June following the theme of ‘How does your garden grow?’ and we have Jeremy Parkes as our guest speaker on that afternoon. If you’re in your retirement years and you’d like to join us and haven’t been before, please book your place via the church office or speak to Catherine. You would receive a very warm welcome!
