If we go back 12 years, Hawbush Primary School was filled with a bunch of young lads who loved to play football, joking that one day they would love to have an adult Hawbush Football Team.
I remember one conversation in my early days on Hawbush with a young man called Tom Wylde, or ‘Tukka’ as we know him when he was in Year 4, saying we should set a team up one day but little did we expect it to happen.
Well a dozen years later we are now up and running and have started our first ever league season in the West Midlands Christian League Division Three. We have had a comfortable win and a few narrow defeats so far but the guys are doing a great job and we are very proud of them all!
We have a squad of about 25 players the majority of whom live within a mile of each other on the Hawbush Estate. It’s a great blessing to have so many great lads living so close together wanting to be involved in something like this.
The team is run by Simon and Stephen Cook who is his assistant and tactical genius. Arron Worrall sorts out all the admin and basically does everything, Matt Welch is also helping us out at training and on match days.
