On behalf of Samaritan’s Purse a very big thank you to those who supported the shoebox appeal last year. On 15th October I (Gail Wood) will be sharing briefly about the chance to take part this year.
Will you consider sending a shoebox to countries in Eastern Europe and Africa where local churches can share the love of God with their communities in often under privileged areas? Can you use this opportunity to involve your friends and family and share the story of the shoeboxes?
In the last 30 years over 200 million shoeboxes have been donated. Of which 400,000 shoeboxes were distributed to boys and girls caught up in the ongoing Ukraine conflict in the last year.
Items needed are small toys, balls, dolls, school supplies, picture books, and hygiene items such as soap and hairbrushes and also hats and gloves, socks and hair accessories. Please do not include toothpaste, sweets, and lotions or liquids. A £5 donation is requested, if possible, for transport and local costs.
Please check out the Samaritan’s Purse UK website for stories of Operation Christmas Child, more examples of what to fill a box with and details of how to build a shoebox online if preferred.
Filled shoeboxes are requested back at ACC on Sunday 12th November.
Many thanks.
