Saturday Special is about bringing the love of God to adults with learning disability. Meeting once a month the volunteer team work hard to bring laughter, fun and spiritual input to these adults. Recently one of the parents wrote to Kate Gregory to explain how much her and her son value this amazing ministry.
She wrote;
What a lovely group you are running there at Amblecote Christian Centre. I really enjoyed coming. It was lovely to meet you and your special daughter too. She seems so happy. Everyone was so lovely; the individuals in the group and all your team of helpers too.
I find it hard to read my son and to know whether or not he is enjoying something, so after the group I used a technique that I have found very helpful. I asked him to evaluate how much he had enjoyed it on a scale of 1 – 10; 1 being awful and I don’t want to go again and 10 being I really enjoyed it very much. He replied 9 1/2, no actually 10 and added that he thought it was really good. I was delighted. I have so longed for him to have some connection back with people who love the Lord……. I am so grateful for your group and hope to either continue to bring him for as long as he wants me to or involve his carers doing it as, and when, he would prefer that and feels ready.
