An overwhelming majority of Kenyans believe in God; in fact, over 80 percent identify as Christian. On the surface, this is excellent news, yet, dig a little deeper, and you’ll find an experiential revelation of God’s love is lacking for many. Although this is true, we meet many who are hungry for a genuine encounter with Jesus.
For this reason, in addition to our current work with children in the juvenile justice system, Route 61 is establishing an oasis in Kisumu: A safe place of God’s presence, where people will gather, explore and meet with God. It is not another church (Kenya doesn’t need another church); this is about building the kingdom and sending those transformed by the love of God back into their communities (including their churches).
At the end of April, we are opening our doors. Our request is for help in raising money to furnish “The Oasis” (that’s what we’re calling it)—we need chairs, desks and lockable cabinets. We ask that you would prayerfully consider helping us change lives in Kenya, by establishing this place of God’s presence in our city.
