THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Tom Unitt
Isaiah 54 v 10 (NLT)
“But it was the Lords good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a good life, and the Lords good plan will prosper in his hands”
The above passage is a bit of a weird read I have found. It was the Lords good plan to crush him AND cause him grief? What about that sentence sounds particularly good to you? If we look at it from a worldly point of view, absolutely nothing! God wants to crush us? To cause us grief? What kind of characteristic for an all loving God is that?! Well… if we look at it closer. It was his plan, this is sometimes translated as his will. As God is loving he will not make his will overtake ours, without us wanting it. He won’t just hijack our lives without asking, we have to allow Him to. I think its asked a lot in this Christian life we lead, but do we trust God enough to open our hearts to Him and let Him crush us and cause us grief? Destroying our lives that WE have made, and allow him to mould it how HE sees fit? Do we trust the Lord to give us good lives by his rules and not our own? Do we submit? I pray that we can all learn in the near future, that what God has is better for us and the real definition of submission.
Are we willing to give it all, to see His good plan in our hands?
