In the Autumn we want to offer some training for those who want to grow in their ability to work with others. There are three streams to this training: mentoring, pastoral care and spiritual direction. These three ways of accompanying others require a lot of overlapping skills, hence there will be four training evenings which are for all three streams. These will be Wednesday 23rd September, Wednesday 7th and 21st October and Wednesday 4th November. Alongside these training evenings each stream will have two separate training sessions, the dates of which will not be organised until we know who is doing the training.
To briefly indicate how they are different: mentoring focusses on supporting a person with a specific goal they want to achieve, pastoral care focusses on accompanying people through the challenges of life and spiritual direction focusses on helping people to discern how God is at work in their life. It is possible to do more than one stream.
