Women’s day of prayer
The Women’s World Day of Prayer is an international, ecumenical prayer movement that invites women from a different part of the world each year, to prepare a worship service through which their hopes and fears for their country may be brought before the whole world in prayer.
I became involved a few years ago when I was asked to represent ACC in the group of ladies from other churches in Brierley Hill, who plan how and where the service is to be held each year.
The service this year was written by the ladies of Cuba and we, at ACC, are hosting it on;
Friday, 4 March in the main hall
We will meet for drinks and Cuban cookies at 1.00pm and the service will commence at 1.30pm. We aim to be finished by 2.30pm so that any mums can be free to pick up their children from school.
We have a class of children from Hawbush Primary School joining us this year to take part in the service and the whole service is very interactive and creative in its format. The theme this year is Receive children. Receive me. Meaning Jesus. This is made clear in the content of the service when we work through it on the day.
This is not a day of prayer for women – everyone is welcome. Come and join others in prayers of faith and asking for the hand of God to move in and upon the country of Cuba.
