At Faith Focus in September we celebrated our 5th anniversary! Just as we did at the very first Faith Focus on 9th September 2021, we had a wonderful time of praise & thanksgiving, not just for God’s amazing goodness to us over the past 5 years, but for all the blessings received since the ministry to our older generation started over 40 years ago. With party food on the menu and a special pass the parcel, we were able to share what we enjoy the most about our monthly gatherings – and it was no surprise that love, friendship, fellowship and food were recurring themes!
‘Rev Rachel’ shared a beautiful word with us, reminding us that a fifth anniversary is traditionally celebrated with a gift made from wood which at face value doesn’t seem the most exciting of presents! But she then used the image of a tree to remind us of our life of faith; of our roots, the shelter and refuge we can provide to each other and the fruit we can grow, and she prayed this prayer over us all at the end:
“May this fellowship remain rooted in Christ, grow together in love, offer shelter to others, and continue bearing fruit for God’s kingdom for many years to come”.
Amen to that!
